Sensei Andy Sherry
Following a career spanning more than six decades, Chairman and Chief Instructor of the KUGB, Sensei Andy Sherry, has retired from his roles within the organisation for personal reasons.
As a founding member of the KUGB he played an active role in its development from its inception in 1966. He was the first Kata champion in 1967 and the following year became the first Grand Champion. Under his guidance, KUGB International Squads enjoyed unprecedented success winning numerous European and World titles consistently over many years and the KUGB has become one of the most respected organisations in the World.Sensei Sherry extends his very best wishes for the future to our members at every level and that their Karate hopes and ambitions are fulfilled. On behalf of the Instructors and Members, the National Executive Committee thank him for his unparalleled contribution to, and leadership of, the organisation.
The KUGB’s pedigree and heritage means that we are fortunate to have a wealth of expertise within our Team of 8th Dans who make up the Technical Committee. Their expert knowledge, coupled with their background as International Competitors and Referees, ensure the high technical standards of the KUGB will continue. As an organisation our Clubs and Instructors are committed to the development of the organisation in a way that delivers high standards of karate to the benefit of our diverse membership.
The National Executive Committee is looking forward to presenting an exciting programme of events over the coming months starting with the Easter course and our new line up of Instructors, as well as upcoming Gradings, Squad Training and Competitions.
