The Poynton family together with the KUGB were delighted to host a memorial tribute on Sunday 15th May in honour of Sensei Bob Poynton 8th Dan.
Bob sadly passed away in March 2020 but we have only now been able to hold the event because of the Covid situation.

The tribute was held at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool and we would like to thank the hotel management and staff for their tremendous help in organising the event. We would also like to thank master of ceremonies, Phillip Gandy, for his expert management of the programme.

Over 200 family, friends and Karate-Ka attended the tribute which was both poignant and good humoured with a series of speeches and videos giving an account of Bob’s remarkable life which brought many a tear to those present.

Bob was an outstanding Karate-Ka and a good friend to all who knew him. He was also a kind and hard working humanitarian who raised over one million pounds through the KUGB Charity for various causes throughout his life.

Bob was definitely unique he was liked by everyone, worked tremendously hard for the KUGB and Karate in general, he was a raconteur with many a humorous tale to tell and will be very sadly missed but never forgotten.
