Following on from the success of last year’s Referees & Judges Course, we are pleased to confirm the Southern Region Referees & Judges Workshop for 2026.
This course is designed for:

• KUGB members preparing to attend the Referees and Judges Course and to qualify as KUGB officials
• Instructors who wish to familiarise themselves with the KUGB rules of competition
• Competitors

A number of attendees from last year’s course went on to qualify successfully as KUGB officials, and the 2026 course will be run along the same proven lines.

The course will be led by Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones, a KUGB nationally-qualified referee with over 35 years experience. The syllabus will cover the KUGB rulebook through practical refereeing and judging of:

• Jiyu Kumite (Freestyle)
• Kihon Ippon Kumite (One-Step)
• Kata

Referees’ and Judges’ uniform is optional. Tracksuits may be worn.  Please bring a whistle, pen, and paper.  Attendees are strongly encouraged to study the KUGB Competition Rules in advance, available here:  https://kugb.org/rules-policies/competition-rules/

Please bring a packed lunch, as there are no facilities nearby.

We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be another valuable and practical course for those developing their officiating skills.
