Bill Christall 1934 - 2011

The KUGB is sad to announce the passing of Bill Christall.

Bill took up Karate at the Liverpool Red Triangle club in 1965 and achieved his 3rd Dan under Sensei Enoeda.

Bill represented the KUGB Internationally for several years and was a valued and popular team member. He was very strongly built and his techniques were very powerful. His favourite technique, for which he was well known, was a chudan mae tobi geri, which he would typically deliver after raising his arms to distract his opponent.

After retiring from competition, Bill gained his qualification as a senior referee and was appointed a KUGB grading examiner. In all these roles, he had a great presence but was also warm and approachable, a true gentleman.

The KUGB Chairman, Officers, Committees and his students and colleagues would like to thank Bill for his invaluable contribution to Karate and our organisation; he will always be part of our history and will not be forgotten by his many colleagues and students.

Messages of condolences may be sent to his wife Marilyn and family c/o the KUGB Administrator or through http://bill.christall.muchloved.com/. You can visit this website address to add tributes to Bill, leave photographs or make donations.

Bill struggled for several years with a rare degenerative disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Much research is taking place to find a cure for the disease. Further information can obtained from PSP Europe on: http://pspeur.org/

Whilst at Whiston Hospital on Merseyside, Bill was cared for with such tenderness and kindness, and for that, the family are indebted. Donations to the hospital can be sent via the KUGB Administrator; cheques payable to St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospital (Ward 4C).
