2019 ESKA European Championships - 22nd to 24th November 2019

England Team

Last weekend, the KUGB squads from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland flew to San Fernando, Spain to attend the 34th European Shotokan Karate-Do Championships.

England in particular performed well coming 3rd overall on the medals table behind Russia and Italy.

Katheriner

Katherine Cheshire won the Junior Ladies Kumite with a decisive win over Nika Prusova of Russia.

Bradley Barker

In the Youth Men’s Individual Kumite, Bradley Barker fought Guilherme Lopes from Portugal to take the title. 

Joe Rawcliffe

Joseph Rawcliffe beat Aleksandar Blagojevic from Germany to take his place in the final but was narrowly beaten by Jonathan Mulolo from Belgium winning the Silver medal.

Junior Ladies Team

The Junior Ladies Team Kumite of Libby Bayley, Katherine Cheshire and Thea Priest took the Silver medal after an exciting final with Sweden.

 Senior Ladies Team

England’s Senior Ladies Team Kumite of Caroline McGrath, Rhianne Rawcliffe and Rebecca Rawcliffe won the Bronze medal after a fierce battle against Russia.

In the Junior Ladies Individual Kumite, Thea Priest won the bronze.

 Cadet men team

In the Cadet Men’s Team Kumite, England’s Team of Ethan Brown, Niall Gilligan and Luciano Zanuni won the Bronze medal after a fierce semi-final with Russia.

England also medalled in the Cadet Men’s Individual Kumite with Luciano Zanuni and Ethan Brown winning Bronze medals.

Jake Chin

Jake Chin took the Bronze medal in both Youth Men’s Individual Kata and Kumite.

Rebecca Adie

Finally England’s Rebecca Adie won the Bronze medal in the Youth Ladies Individual Kumite.

The KUGB sent sixty five competitors in all, together with a contingent of Coaches, Referees and Officials. The competition consisted of Youth, Cadet, Junior and Senior events and our competitors performed with outstanding spirit and have a camaraderie second to none.  Many congratulations to you all.

A big thank you to all our parents and fans who travelled over to Spain to support our squads, your support is very much appreciated.
