Grand Slam Competition 2011 - 13th August

The KUGB held the second Grand Slam competition of the year at the Queens Park Leisure Centre on Saturday 13th of August. The competition is held between Squad members from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland and this year competitors from Italy were also invited to take part in the event. The Grand Slam is held under the World and European Shotokan Karate Association's rules. It is part training and part competition and gives competitors experience of these type of events.

As always there were many exciting matches and it was very nice to see Chris Cray back in action after recovering from a very serious knee injury to win the Senior Male Kumite event. Selected competitors are now training hard for the forthcoming WSKA World Championships in Chicago on the 17th and 18th of September, good luck to them all.
