Attendee Code of Behaviour
COVID-19 has not gone away. Indoor events such as ours present a significantly higher risk of transmission than similar events taking place in outdoor spaces.

The main way of spreading COVID-19 is through close contact with an infected person. When someone with COVID-19 breathes, speaks, coughs or sneezes, they release particles (droplets and aerosols) containing the virus that causes COVID-19. These particles can be breathed in by another person. Surfaces and belongings can also be contaminated with COVID-19, when people who are infected cough or sneeze near them or if they touch them.

The KUGB and the University of Nottingham are keen to ensure that COVID-19 safety protocols are observed by all who attend this year’s event.

Conduct a lateral flow test at home the day before the event and only attend if you have a negative result.
Please do not attend the event if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace. Anyone presenting with COVID- 19 symptoms will not be allowed into the event.
Please adhere to any safety measures we have in place including observing directions given by KUGB stewards.

Respect others
There may be vulnerable people, those who care for vulnerable people, or those who live with vulnerable people, in attendance at the event. Be cautious and don’t put yourself or others at unnecessary risk.
Social distancing and face coverings

Where possible practice social distancing and consider wearing face coverings when moving around the venue. Face coverings are no longer required by law, but the government expects and recommends that people should continue to wear them in crowded and enclosed settings, to protect themselves and others.
Some areas are more prone to potential congestion and crowding, including concession stands, the cafe, toilets, corridors, entry/exit points and ticket collection points. These ‘pinch points’ could potentially lead to an increased risk of transmission so please be cautious and do not congregate for longer than necessary.

Where possible spectators should spread out in the seating provided and should not enter onto the competition area during the event.

Only the official photographer will be permitted to take photographs of the medallists on the winners’ rostrum during the finals. Spectators, family members or coaches must not approach the rostrum in order to do so.

Only registered club coaches are permitted on the competition area during the event. This is for the purposes of coaching their students when they are competing. Coaches should wear a face covering at all times.
Please only approach the officials’ table where essential for example when invited to do so in order to deal with an important matter of event administration.

During the finals a coach may attend at the side of the mat only when they have a competitor actually competing. Thereafter they must return to the seating provided.

Close contact with an opponent is inevitable in kumite matches. In other circumstances avoid unnecessary close contact where possible for example when celebrating or congratulating others.
Competitors should wear a face covering whilst on the competition floor and should only remove it immediately before stepping onto the mat to compete.

Do not share mitts or other equipment.

Spread out when waiting at the side of the mat for your name to be called.

All referees, judges and table officials should wear face coverings.

Avoid sharing equipment such as whistles, flags and pens. Where this is not possible please ensure good hand hygiene throughout the day by washing with soap and water and/or sanitising.
