On Sunday 27th April 2025, the KUGB held its Special Dan Grade Course at Hoyland Leisure Centre in Barnsley, welcoming Dan grades from across the country for a high-level, focused training course.
The course was led by three of the KUGB’s most senior and respected instructors: Sensei Billy Higgins 8th Dan, Sensei Frank Brennan 8th Dan, and Sensei Garry Harford 8th Dan. Their depth of knowledge, technical excellence, and passion for karate created an exceptional learning environment for everyone in attendance.
This free course is open to all Dan grades, from 1st Dan upwards, and is not solely intended for those preparing to take higher gradings. It provides an invaluable opportunity for all black belts to train together, refine their skills, and uphold the high technical standards expected within the KUGB.
The training was followed by a Dan grading examination for candidates attempting Sandan and above. The atmosphere throughout the day was professional, focused, and inspiring, with a strong emphasis on the continuous journey of learning and improvement that defines true KUGB Karate. Feedback from those attending was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the exceptional standard of instruction and the supportive environment.
The KUGB extends its sincere thanks to Sensei Higgins, Sensei Brennan, and Sensei Harford for their outstanding teaching, and to all the Dan grades who made the effort to attend and represent the organisation with such commitment and pride.
Congratulations to everyone who successfully graded – a fantastic achievement that reflects your hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
