The KUGB Northern Region Championships took place in Sunderland this October, drawing strong support from clubs across the region. The event was run with precision and discipline, thanks to the leadership of our most senior referees, Sensei Jim Brennan (8th Dan) and Sensei Rob Welsh (7th Dan). Their experience and oversight were invaluable in maintaining the high standard expected of KUGB events.
We would like to extend sincere thanks to the judges, referees, timekeepers, recorders, and officials, all of whom gave their time and energy to ensure the championships ran smoothly. These events cannot happen without your commitment.
And of course, a special thank you to all the competitors. Your focus, spirit, and determination are what bring these championships to life. Whether it was your first time stepping onto the mat or you’re a seasoned competitor, your effort and attitude are what define the true spirit of KUGB Shotokan karate.
