October 2025 – Special Dan Grade Course – Bath

Twice a year, the KUGB hosts complimentary Special Dan Grade Courses exclusively for its black belt members. Today’s course was held at the impressive Sports Village at Bath University.

The session was led by Senseis Billy Higgins, Jim Brennan and Frank Brennan – all members of the KUGB Technical Committee. With a focus on advanced Kata, Kihon, Kumite, and Bunkai, the course aims to refine technique and maintain the KUGB’s exceptional technical standards.

These courses are open to all black belts, whether or not they are preparing for a grading, providing a valuable opportunity to develop and uphold the high level of skill expected across the organisation.

Following two hours of focused training, participants took a short break before the Dan gradings began. Examiners assessed candidates on their kata, technical precision, discipline, and overall standard to ensure KUGB’s rigorous benchmarks were met.

Congratulations to all those who were successful in their gradings.
